SOHO China (CHAOWAI SOHO), established in 1995, is now the biggest office real estate developer in China, whose headquarter is located in CHAOWAI SOHO , Chaoyang Dist., Beijing. CHAOWAI SOHO was designed by Korean master, Seung,H-ang. The pattern of the building is irregular curved surface, of which the design concept came from Hakka Earth Building.

In April, 2014, MissZhangxin from anySCALE accepted the task to design the Beijing headquarter of SOHO China, during which the history of SOHO China needs to be presented in public area. In that project, anySCALE used MATSU office furniture to build the very room of SOHO taste.

The embedded arching wall embraces the model display area, which shows the landmark architecture in the history and building models. An embedded link, separately filled with black glass, is in strong contrast to the black architecture model designed by famous architectural firm such as ZahaHadid, GMP, which adds more attraction to the models.

SOHO style in the designer’s mind was integrated into the sofa leisure area, where the white color plays the leading role, ornamented with the bright color. The simple and pure design of the chair light became the keynote of the room.

The open area on the 12nd floor is in the center with all the office around it, and the offices are adjacent to each other. As it is used frequently and is a hot area for colleagues and clients to get socialized, the designers make this place a coffee bar counter with flexible meeting spot in the surrounding area, and there is also a formal closed meeting room nearby. The key point of the reconstruction is to endow the space with a fresh new look, without changing any construction. We suggested that different seating area present different feeling. A rectangle table, surrounded by rectangle chairs, is for group discussion. Round table, surrounded by lounge chairs, is especially for lunch and coffee discussion. The comfortable sofa by the windows makes people feel relaxed and comfortable before and after the meeting.

The 15th floor is the administration floor. The side of the stairs is metal board cut and punched with laser. The designer expects to display some special projects of SOHO China before in the open area between the stairs and outer surface, thus forming the SOHO commune architecture models in white, located at the corner of the Great Wall, appearing indistinctly. Meanwhile, the sunshine sprinkles through the punched metal board, creating unique shadow, flickering and providing fun on the top of models.

The sculpture pig is a member of SOHO family. Before the design formed, it was already there. In this reconstruction, it returned where is was before.
